I took my ATP written 05/10/2010. So if I am not mistaken it will be valid for 24 calendar months, which means it will be valid until 05/31/2012? Thanks

Yes, but you can use an expired ATP written for upgrade at a 121.

Awesome, thanks... yeah i know about the 121 use, but all I am doing is rolling backwards thanks to CH11. Planning for the worst and hoping for the best.

Additionally you can use it for a 135 carrier so long as you are applying for an ATP....I got hired into a HS-125 for a PIC type and was able to complete a 135.293/297 and ATP ride all at the same time with an expired written because it was completion of an air carrier's training program.

As long as you are taking the ATP exam at a place that had an established 121 or part 135 training program then the written does not expire. I have heard this out of he FsDo my self. However I have heard dif answer from people. I think it's a grey area so you end up hearing dif responses from dif people.

But yes I got my ATP well after my written was expired and not from my 121 airline.

It is not a grey area. It says right in the regs you may use an expired written if you are employed by a 121 at the time of the practical test and have completed that companies upgrade training.

CrakPipe... I have thought about this stuff in a long time. What if you are employed by a 121 carrier and have an expired ATP written and go to say.. higherpower to get a 73 or whatever type rating... Can you still use the expired one there?

Why is it so hard to look up the regs?
