While I think the idea of a superstitious pilot is laughable, the posts usually have dozens of comments from other pilots saying they do the same thing. Makes me wonder if the accept a clearances to 13,000 feet.
What about a squawk 1313?

Not really frightening, it's all legal. One official state marriage (taxes), the rest are just church weddings. Same ballpark as swinging IMO, not really my cup of tea, but whatever makes consenting adults happy.

The subject even came up because over the course of the trip my military experiences were discussed, including socializing with the (multiple) wives of arab dignitaries.

After over 20 years of marriage, one wife is enough for me!

None of the concourses in DTW have a gate 13.

Apparently the higher ups there are superstitious too.

There was an old story about a CA who refused to “ident”. It seems that long ago he had lost an engine right after identing, and feared it might happen again.

I have regularly asked for a 666 call sign when I am mad at my company. Also asked for 420. Got a good laugh out of that one every time I checked in. Told the controller when asked about the unusual call sign that the company was always looking for new ways to generate income. I am based in a state that is 420 “friendly”.

Yes I am happily a TOTD.

I guess the same moron who is afraid of gate 13 is not smart enough to realize gate 14 is actually the 13

Same goes for hotels with a 13th floor. News flash, the 14th is the 13th!

Most Airports are even and odd numbered gates on opposite sides. That said the old Gate 13 old be the new Gate 15?

Seems almost delusional to me, but whatever, the guy was fine to fly with otherwise!

I always get a kick out of the idiots who have stupid ideas but instead of carrying them out themselves, they task someone else with their idiotic musings. In my last job we called them colonel and general.
