Africa. The place where old airplanes go to die. If you want to see old stove pipe DC-8's, 727's, and DC-9's go to Africa. Unfortunately, they sometimes take a bunch of people with them. We are sure to see many more crashes in Africa through out our careers.

While the 727 is out of production, the crash aircraft was reported to have come off the line in '83 which made it one of the newest 727's flying. Of course the not-so-strict regulatory environment in Africa any thing could happen.

The report said it was a 737 not 727

Don't confuse me with the facts! Had it been a 727, it would have been "new"

Sam Adurogboye, an Aviation Ministry spokesman, said the 23-year-old Boeing 737-2B7 crashed just one minute after takeoff.

What's a 737-2B7?

The only African Airline I'd feel comfortable flying on would be South African Airways. They're just awesome...
