Default Deviation Class of Service ???

Questions about Class of Service when deviating...

Getting into OAK at 0005L 14Aug after 10 hour flight from KIX (11:30 duty period); scheduled DH is 0615 15Aug (coach back to MEM $592 bank)... I am looking to deviate and depart OAK at 0615 14Aug to SAT...

Question#1&2: What Class of service am I authorized? Is this same duty period travel?

Question #3: My August Deviation bank can cover cost of 1st Class ticket ($755) on Delta; can I use it to go 1st class?

Question #4: USAir 1st class is $423 (less than DH fare) can I go 1st class on USAir at this price without even consideration to same duty period travel?

Have researched contract and and found info referring to DH flights should be scheduled greater than 2 hours for after arriving international trips for same duty period travel. Also, DHs should be scheduled within 4hours of arrival for same duty period travel but no reference for domestic or international trip.

Thanks for your help in deciphering my options!!!

As long as you dont have a legal rest period you are good to go. Book it 1st class. Book it directly with global travel dont use tripmanager. Since you will have a domestic 1st class upgrade they will flag it unless you tell them when booking it is the same duty period. If flagged you will have to jump through multiple hoops to get it fixed.

Book it 1st class. I have found that referencing it as "same duty D/H" in the remarks of the expense report, precludes any issue from the auditors.

The 2hr and 4 hr limitations you are referring to only apply to the requirements on the company, when scheduling D/H's. You are not subject to those when deviating. But, as you know...You are still limited on class of service requirements. And, you would be eligible for 1st, in your scenario.

You blocked over 8, didn't have a legal rest period, so it is "same duty period." enjoy your first class bed and p!ss poor us carrier service.

I have done this and used Trip manager no problem. As long as its in the same duty time, no flag, no reason to not use TM

Can anyone recommend a car service in mem? Any pitfalls to using bank money for this would be appreciated.

901-577-7700/Prompt/2/PREMIER TRANSPORT (this is who we use on ANC pairings for scheduled GT)

Pitfalls:
  • Can't expense GT in your domicile (so, hopefully you're not MEM based or this is a moot discussion)
  • Tips over 15% that are itemized on the receipt may be denied when you file your expense report.
  • Total expense over $100 needs a pre-approval
Nothing else comes to mind right now.

I didn't want to start a new thread on the topic, so just dug this one up.

If I'm using D/H bank to purchase a domestic ticket to go home from MEM, and there are no coach seats left, only FC. Am I allowed to purchase the FC ticket with the bank? The confusion for me is that I don't meet the FC parameters -- but, I don't have to correct?

Just to add to the question. Let's say there are plenty of seats in coach and business/FC. If one has sufficient bank, can one choose to purchase whichever seat they wish? Or will the crew audit deny the entire price, or a portion of a price, of the business/FC ticket?

Thanks.

Just to be clear you can buy a FC ticket whenever you want. But,

Under normal circumstances if you dont qualify for 1st you would have to reimburse the company the difference between the coach ticket and the FC on that flight. I do not know think you will if first is your only option. Call global travel and ask them to book you see what they say. I have bought a last minute ticket several time in FC but not had to pay because it was the only seat available.
