I am an aviation professional who has just begun training as a student pilot. I've been wanting to become a pilot all my life and have recently started in a Cessna 172R. I hope to learn a lot from the active pilots on this forum and possibly in the future fly professionally.

Working on my instrument rating. College grad. Hoping there's a career in aviation for me on the horizon without going military.

Default introducing myself

Name is Craig.
About to retire from the military after 23.5 years.
My 1st four years I was an H-46 crewchief in the Navy.
The rest of my career was in the Army as an OH-58D Kiowa Warrior Maintenance Test Pilot (over 2,000 Helicopter hours-Commercial Instrument-Rotorcraft). Since 2005 I've been flying the C-12, RC-12, & Beech 1900 as an Instructor and Maintenance Test Pilot (over 2500 hours-ATP MultiEngine. BE300, BE190).

I have been studying for a PPL w/out an instructor for a couple of years now off and on. For material I am using the Kings's School's Cleared For Takeoff online course. I am now planning on attending ATP's 150 day Fast Track program. I am here for any input, advice, and opinion's dealing with the wonderful world of aviation.

Like Dick Karl (Flying Magazine's flying surgeon), I'm in medicine; unlike Dick Karl, I never got a license---but I love planes and get to use them a fair bit as a passenger---even, the past few years, as a lucky fractional passenger/owner---along with other charters here and there.
I deeply value what Airline Pilot Forums adds to my review of ARGUS/Wyvern data---and in more than one case, I've been greatly helped in my decision process by the professional and meaningful discussions I find here.
