I see a lot of terms and lingo thrown around from the airline guys and was wondering what it all means (Im a corporate guy and MAY be considering airlines down the road). I.e. Scope, retro, MEC, difference b/t U-CAL and L-CAL, etc...

If someone can define what these terms mean, I'd appreciate it. And if theres any more any one would like to add.

Scope = Protection of flying from outside parties. I defines certain flying as exclusive to a certain group.

MEC = Master Executive Council (ALPA term)

Retro = I think this refers to retro-pay. When a new contract is signed it sometimes includes retroactive pay from the amendable date to the signing date of the new contract.
