My $14 rollerboard from kmart works great and I get a new one every 10 months. $350 on a metal frame roller that only lasts a few years...another way to scam pilots. Travelpro replicas can be found at Ross for $40. Crewgear.com sells flightkits for $60.

Reason # 1: Never go on a trip without a spare uniform. You never know when that cup of coffee is going to find itself onto your shirt.

Reason # 2: How would you lug your Case around without a rollaboard?? And no...the wheeled case won't fit in the RJ

Reason # 3: You can't fit a pair of sneakers, and your toiletries, and your clothes, etc...into "something rather small..."

Reason # 4 and most important: You will stick out like a dumby, and be pointed and laughed at, as you should be LoL.

There's a reason our luggage is fairly standard across the board...it's because that is what the job calls for. Get a good quality rollaboard and flight case.

OMG thats funny! And true.

I know you have all been waiting with baited breath to konw what bag I use so here it is. THE Bag I use is Swiss Gear. I was at Target one day and noticed this bag. There were two like it in the store. It had a "pilot case hook" strap on the front! AT TARGET? One of the ones had the hook to it attached and the other was in the pocket. The picture above doesn't show it so make sure first. Its a chain with metal L hook on the end. You can adjust it up and down to change the CG to get that perfect tip balance for walking. I guess other folks use that book hook too but anyway. Has pocket for a laptop on side for when you have pull it out quick for inspection. Expanded handle for taller folks so its not bouncing off your ankles. Its black. Lots of inner pockets for stuff. Webbed pockets inside so you can see it all. Nice quit rollers. Several side handles. Lockable. Has expansion zipper so you can close the top normally then zip it around again to compress it all. Or leave it popped up if you really need to put allot of stuff in it. If you leave it popped up you will have to cram it into an overhead. Good bang for your buck I think. The only weak link could be the longer than average extension handle. Time will tell. For me (a tall guy 6'5) its worth the chance. Very comfortable to walk with. Looks/works good and doesn't break the bank.

Costco roller and Office Depot flight case- both are in great shape after nearly a year of service. The Costco is the biggest that will fit into many overhead bins.

The metal frame rollers that I see look like garbage because the paint is all chipped off from banging the edges. Maybe if you chrome plated it or something it would look cool.

I was checking this out. It looked pretty neat. I assume this will fit in the CRJ200?

What is the largest size luggage that will fit in the closet in the 145's?

I like this Stealth Luggage. What do you guys think?

That's the one I have...works awesome in the CRJ200. Fits perfect. You won't be fitting any conventional David Clark headsets in the included velcro pocket (inside), but you won't be needing your own headset anyways. Unless of course you can't share other people's germs and insist on bringing your own headset. That all aside, the Stealth leather flight case is great.

Quote: Also, has anyone tried the PNT bag that has the "computer pocket"? I've looked at it in the SOS, but I'm not convinced it provides adequate protection.
I have that bag as well...and, I won't be putting my laptop in that pocket. My 15" Lenovo T61P is too big for that pocket. I carry a separate leather bag for my laptop. Believe me, you don't want that ground crew tossing your roll-a-board with your laptop inside. I don't care how much padding they say it has.

Quote: Ok for those of you who own a Purdy bag which size is the best to get....22", 26", Stealth????? I hear the 26" isn't legal carry-on size
I use the LuggageWorks Stealth 22 Computer rollaboard and it does just fine with a 4-day. I have an extra pair of work pants, 3 extra work shirts, 3 pairs of socks, underwear, and undershirts. I also bring swim trunks, a sweater, a pair of jeans, and a pair of sandals which I can wear out and about.

On my first trip, I wasn't anywhere close to getting that packed properly. On my second trip, I've learned how to pack properly. Roll....roll....roll....less is more.
