Default Noise Canceling Headset Recommendations

Anyone have suggestions on a headset that has an A320 adapter and won't break the bank in cost?

Thanks

Newer 320's don't require them. Standard Mic and headphone jack found in other aircraft. You can buy an adapter if necessary. I'd check first. Also, the bus is pretty quiet. No one really wears a headset above fl180.

Huh? What'd you say?

While its true that the bus is quieter than most other aircraft, that doesn't mean its quiet.

I know quite a few guys that wear the UFlyMike. You can get the airbus adaptor for it if you want. Either way, its a Bose Quiet Comfort 15 headset, and then you attach the mic to it. Its amazing how much quieter things are with one of those on (the radio can be turned down to the lowest setting, and its still easy to hear).

If cost is really an issue for you, than get some ear plugs, and just wear those. Works fine, cost is usually $0 (airline provides them).

Sennheiser makes some good ones too. There's an ALPA discount.

Telex 850. Light and no batteries required.

The old 320s I can see it coming in handy (the recircs howl!), but not the newer ones.

Why does the airbus need an adapter?

Not sure about other airlines, but all of Delta's airbus aircraft use the XLR-5 plugs. You can order headsets with that plug from marvgolden and others, but then you would need a two-plug adapter to use it in other planes if you bid off the 'bus.

Because the French are weird and designed input jacks that look like a cigarette lighter found in a car

I bought the Telex 850 with the airbus plugs. I've been very happy with them. You can get the adapter for other planes for about $40-$50 if you leave the bus.
