Engineer Sr-Flight Test (Job Number: HAC000031)

Description

• Development and certification flight activities on assigned airplane.
• Support flight schedule of assigned airplane.
• Assist in test and flight readiness review meetings.
• Review and approve Flight Test Plans.
• Conduct all categories of experimental test flights.
• Perform FAA and customer demonstrations.
• Prepare and distribute Flight Reports after each assigned test flight.
• Report customer and certification issues to Program Management in an objective manner.
• Provide regular updates to the Chief Test Pilot on flight activities and certification and customer issues.

The individual will be responsible to establish and maintain common test procedures and certification approaches for Honda Aircraft products. They will have an in-depth technical knowledge of flight test and experience in certifying 14CFR, FAR 23 projects including but not limited to; Certification Plans, Ground and Flight Test Procedures and Reports, SSAs, FHAs and Compliance Reports

Responsibilities:
Manage the preparation of written development or certification test plans, reports, and test cards for assigned flight tests.
Manage the planning, coordination, and short-term scheduling of tests to be performed on assigned test aircraft
Coordinate with flight test engineers as required to ensure the aircraft is configured properly to meet test objectives.
Monitor assigned aircraft configuration for as related to upcoming tests.
Some travel will be required.

Qualifications

Candidate must have previous Experimental Flight test pilot experience.
Experience with writing test plans and reports, and data reduction and analysis.
Candidate must have 10 years of previous experience.
Excellent team leadership skills with strong ability to communicate and resolve issues or problems.
Experience with handling qualities and performance development and certification testing.
Experience with mechanical, electrical, and avionic systems development and certification testing.
Understand the FAA Part 23/25 certification requirements and test methods necessary to show compliance.
Part 23/25 Flight Test Pilot DER or be able to meet the requirement to apply for a DER appointment within one year.
Commercial Multi-engine Pilot certificate and minimum of 1800 hours as Pilot-in-Command.
Turbine aircraft experience.
Excellent written and oral communications skills.

Preferred Skills:
General aviation flight operation experience
Airline Transport Pilot certificate and minimum of 2000 hours as Pilot-in-Command.
Graduate of Test Pilot School
Single-pilot jet type rating

Education Required:
BS Engineering and a minimum of 10 years experience.
