Quote: There is a reason we wanted 2 bid packs and it wasn't to help out the NB guys. Hey we will all have a shot at being senior, just some of us wont have as much time at the top as others. The good news is they have to buy up the lines to 68 (unless they decide not to).
Your weren't here in 1990 when everyone sat stagnant for 5 years as they parked all the FT DC-8s, 727's and 747's. Many of us were stuck on the FE panel on reserve flying nights.

I remember listening to some 1996 new hires complaining they couldn't hold an WB FO seat after 6 months.
No Airline Company grows continuously & indefinitely. When the music stops (and it always does), it sucks to be Junior, no matter what seat you are in or who you are working for.

But one needs to Stop and look around, AMR, DAL and SWA aren't growing either, UPS isn't growing. US is finally growing after many years of stagnation, and how the merger plays out with AMR remains to be seen.

Be thankful instead of bitter.

Quote: Not sure how much bumping will be going on. If all training can be done in a 757 how much IOE has to be done in the 767?
Shhhh. Don't tell the guys getting out of my seat.

Ah yes the younger crowd reminds me of that TV commercial - "It's my money and I WANT IT NOW!"

Then you should get a good 20 years in the left seat because the retirement age will probably be 90 by then.

For the future, it appears the MD-11 & A300 at FDX are finished growing for now, unless UPS decides to sell us their MD11s and A300's
Finished growing?! For now? Do you really think FedEx wants more of either? The MD-10 and A310 are rapidly going the way of the DC-10. And the pace of their demise will increase as deliveries of the 767 start picking up. The MD-11 has already started its shift to domestic to backfill departing MD-10s, and we won't be buying additional MD-11s. I think most guys realize that which explains the mass exodus off the MD-11 in the excess bid.
The reality is, we aren't growing and probably have some more shrinking to do. As long as our shrinking is done through retirements of old aircraft and old pilots, I think we will all eventually be better off.

Sweet! If they'll just start putting the ****ers in all the cockpits, like they are in the 767, I don't think I'll have a problem with that at all. But I wonder if they could rig those stair glide stair lifts to the air stairs. That might be my single item, make or break issue for the next contract.

Did you have something to refute in my quote or are you just calling me bitter? Do you yell at the kids in your neighborhood to get off your lawn?

Not calling you bitter but my impression is you seldom post anything in a positive tone.

You can play on my Lawn anytime.

Redeye's having a party this weekend.

How would you like to come over and mow his lawn?

I just post the facts it is up to the reader to determine if bitter or not. What I said (or implied) in my bitter post was:

1. 2 Bid Packs helps the 76 guys (likely the most SR acft on property).

2. The company has stopped growing and anyone hired in the last 5 years can expect to spend a lot of time in an FDA or the 757 FO seat.

3. BLGs in the 75 FO seat will trend towards 68 for the foreseeable future. Cross your fingers we don't enter 4A2b.

I'll bring my sand wedge.

Maybe after I am done changing my standing bid again.
