FDX Vacation Bidding Procedures

Been here 23 years. Is this new? Specifically the part that says you can't be awarded more than 7 days unless blocks downrange are open.

It seems like this is Management's latest 'interpretation' of our contract.

Will be placing a call to ALPA later this morning.

Not sure what you're seeing there.

You can bid up to 10 days without needing the next week's slot open. If you bid more than 10days, then you need to be able to hold the next week's slot as well.

CBA 7.C.5. For vacation award purposes, a vacation period that extends into a subsequent vacation slot by 4 or more days shall occupy both slots.

You might be misinterpreting the leftover vacation days rule? You can't bid a vacation that leaves less than 7 days in your bank.

CBA 7.D. Splitting Vacations

A pilot may split his vacation into as many as 4 separate periods provided each period contains a minimum of 7 days vacation;

This is the way it has always been. Nothing different. What's curious is why they restated it the way they have. Is this part of the new a and kinder management rolling up their sleeves.

Maybe they're getting us used to PBS. Where a 7 day vacation means 7 days off.

Hi Bus, it's the bit about:
18-24 days: 3 Slots must be available
25-32 days: 4 Slots must be available
33-36 days: 5 Slots must be available
I've never been aware of this either.

You could always bid vacation slots up to 3 days over without needing to be able to hold another week that is available. Once you go 4 days over you need to be able to hold that following week also.
