Numerous thoughts;

- What's the required ATC aircraft spacing at LAX & JFK on an 18mph vehicle? Does it slow down to 9mph for "final approach speed"?

- Your second link says a prototype should be finished by 2010 ... I guess I better hurry up and retire

- Talk about "short field capability"! Do they land at the correct airport or just one in the same city?

- Are they limited to 5lb packages like the Amazon octocopters?

This thing will never work. Coming from an LTA background and now flying cargo in the 135 world, I really feel that the two will never go together. They are too slow and much to vulnerable to weather to be used regularly in the domestic market.
