All right I am sure the comments are about to start rolling in on this one, but I am going to do it anyway.

I work at Sierra Academy in Atwater. This school has gone through many changes but at this time I am finally confident enough about our direction that I figured I would come to the forums.

We are hiring CFI's right now. Our goal is 5 students per instructor with about 125-150 flight hours per month. We are already almost fully staffed. If you are concerned with a lease on a place, than you can stay in our instructor housing. It is only 50 dollars per month. Is it great, no not really, but you are safe, and relatively comfortable. If not there are apartments near by. Is Atwater a fun place? Once again no, not really. But we all came here to fly, and on days off you can go from the mountains to the ocean in the same day.

I have a stack of applications for CFI's but I wanted to put this up because I wanted to see If anyone else who has not heard of us wanted an opportunity to work with a great group of guys and fly as much as they want.

Before the comments come rolling in. Please keep in mind in just the last 3 months we have all brand new management staff, a new standardization process, and CFI training program, a new simulator center, and are very close to a partnership/ bridge agreement with a reputable airline. So before you are critical of the past just understand there is a large group of managers, stage check pilots, and instructors trying to grow professionally to be the largest international school in the US.

So If you want to work for us than send me a PM, and please guys and gals, keep the comments classy, and fly safe.

What does the job pay? Do you get health insurance?

Instructors are paid 20 dollars an hour If they have an MEI. 17 If you inly have an initial. From what I understand health insurance can only be offered after one year of employment.

How many positions do you have left?

FedEx, Delta?

Sorry, couldn't resist.

How many of the students out there are foreign? Seems like every time I go to Atwater there are lots of Chinese accents on tower frequency.

I keep hearing more and more CFI jobs are opening up for people willing to train foreign pilots here in the US.
You mentioned housing. Is this single occupancy or shared? That price really seems low, but with corporate assistance, I thought I should ask.
I am a career changer with 1400 total hours. Would Sierra be willing to hire a CFI with that amount of time? I'm thinking that the company would be concerned that I would not stay long enough, but I would stay. Got the CFI Instrument Multi.

Seems like the pay could be fairly decent for a CFI job if you're maxing out at a 180 hours at making $20 per hour. The cheap housing is pretty attractive, too. How much billable time do most CFIs get per month?

Any reputable flight school you want to work for should hire you for your qualifications and not your risk of leaving.
