Looking to go to Horizon, not IFR current but working on it, but can't afford the 60 hrs of recent experience they list on the web site. I would like to make the transition this summer. Does anyone have any thoughts or ideas?

Get your 1st class medical and just apply, the 60 hours is preferred not mandatory. They know the last 10+ years have been unprecedented with 9/11 and the economic meltdown and that people have had to look for ways to make ends meet. Being local helps and if you get called, get down to Hillsboro aviation to run through the sim for a few sessions. Good Luck!

I'm thinking about applying to horizon and moving my family to Spokane. Can anybody tell me anything about being based in GEG. How are the trip schedules? How easy will it be to get GEG as a base? Is it possible to live in the Coeur D'alene area while on reserve?

Getting based in Spokane should be pretty easy. I'd be surprised if you didn't get it by the time you were done with training. Schedules over there are a mix of 1,2,3, and 4 day trips. At least when I was based there the majority were 2-day, with the occasional 3-day or day trip. 4-days were exceedingly rare, but I don't know if that's changed.

As long as you're within 90 minutes of the airport, you can be at home on reserve.

I would rather live in the valley than cda. Sometimes I90 can be tricky from cda to Spokane.

I think the vast majority of 4-days in the QX system are out of SEA and PDX, if not all of them. Over the last few bids, I don't think I've seen any 4-day trips out of BOI, and I've heard that the other outstations are pretty similar.

Just got the call for an interview. Any recently hired that can shed some light on the basing situation and lines? What is junior base/how long to hold a line? Have a place in SEA but mil elsewhere so I'll be commuting. Thanks in advance.

8 x MFR today. Last class was split MFR and PDX. Can't tell you about holding a line since I'm not there yet, but we've been told to expect MFR to not last much past IOE for most of us if even that long. Obviously quicker to hold a line in a place like MFR, though.

Wow, sounds promising then to be SEA or PDX within a short time. Keeping my fingers crossed.
