Once again, The Company is relying on the goodwill of FedEx pilots on previously scheduled trips to operate their flights into Memphis earlier than scheduled. This time, it's 1 hour earlier than scheduled.
This ALERT is too late for anyone bound for Memphis this morning -- I hope our Captains made sure that all scheduled jumpseaters made it to Memphis.
However, it also applies to Jumpseats OUTBOUND from Memphis this afternoon.
Anyone planning to use a FedEx Jumpseat FROM Memphis tonight should be prepared for the possibility that the flight departs 1 hour earlier than scheduled. In other words, the flight may departing at the original SHOW TIME for the jumpseat.
I would hope that our Captains will be sensitive to the possibility that jumpseaters were NOT alerted to this schedule change requested by The Company and to make appropriate accomodations to ensure jumpseaters are not left behind. If those jumpseaters check in 1 hour prior to the SCHEDULED departure time (i.e., AT the RE-Scheduled time), Captains should ensure those jumpseaters get a ride.
The last time this happened, FedEx ALPA also published an alert. I've seen no such advisory this time. Maybe it upset someone in management last time.
