Hiring and benefits

Anyone know about how much medical insurance costs are for a family of five at FlexJet? Also, what are the hiring plans for 2007 and approximate upgrade times.
Thanks

Flex has three family plans for $28, $39, $60 and they are planning on hiring 100 pilots in the next year.

Those prices are biweekly I guess. And what is the difference in the plans?

Also, are the schedules set or do they change?

Ok, yes payments are biweekly.

No, I can't explain the differences, I barely understand it myself.

Schedule is a PBS system. The computer determines how many people it needs and schedules them accordingly, if you are lucky, it will let you have what you bid for. Otherwise, our schedule is like an airline's sched.

Is Flex taking delivery of the new Lear 60XR's and Challenger 605?
Also is it true they offer moving assistance?
What is the future plans at Flex? I.E. future aircraft delivery's, increases in fleet size? What's the planned attrition due to retirements, and how many people are talking of going to the Major's?
Sorry to dump so many questions, but you can probably tell I really have my sight set of Flexjet.

Thanks,
Ziggy

My son flies for Flexjet. Getting any information from him is like getting blood from a stone. Looks like upgrade time is in the 2-3 year range. He says they are still hiring. He has been there 18 months and says there about 12 ahead of him for captains slots. He is on the L45, and enjoys it. Just returned from a trip that laid over in St. Maarten in the Caribbean. On one trip last month, he deadheaded from FLL to DFW, lim'od to Addison Field, flew 1 leg to LAS, laid over for 2 nights and dead headed home. He's been all over the U S, parts of Canada and the Caribbean. If you want to PM me, I'll give you his email address. Maybe you can get more information from him than I can. Full pay while in training. Hotel with breakfast furnished. I think training lasted about 6 weeks. You get a type rating on the a/c. Good luck

Projections for new aircraft are hard to come by. Flex will only buy what they have sold. They are adimately against having large portions of aircraft that are unsold. So, new aircraft projections are best guesses. With regards to 60XRs and 605's, if an owner buys one, we'll fly it.

As for hiring, the last number I heard was 100 pilots in 07. Attrition is hard to get a handle on. You don't have to retire at 60 here, so you can't look at the seniority list and pick out those that have to retire in 2007. I do know, Flex has hired quite a few retired airline pilots (over 60) and I can't imagine they'll be here for a long time. You might see a huge attrition soon. However, about 90% of the pilots here love their job and don't have plans to leave any time soon. So attrition is a crap shoot.

are you still on duty or does the schedule tell you "you have a solid two days of waiting go out and do what you want"
cause being laid over in vegas and potentially being called is a missed opportunity

I believe you're still on duty. In other words they pay you per day whether you're flying or sitting in a hotel. I wouldn't think you would be required to sleep in your uniform waiting for a call to your room. They usually know the schedule for the next days flying, but you are subject to change. About all they can say is "report ASAP". He has been called at home with the 1st days schedule at say 18:00, only to be called back at 20:00 and have it changed. They usually stay at Crowne Plazas, Double Trees, Hiltons or equal, depending on what is available. Downer is that it's usually near the airport, not necessarily downtown. They give you a company cell phone, so they can get in touch with you just about anywhere. Some places where they lay over, the FBO will even give them a crew car. All this and a LEATHER JACKET thrown in. WOW !
