Thanks Tom for sharing these wonderful memories. And sailing Cunard is much classier than the Transatlantic on the Norwegian Epic.

OK. Non-revved ATL-LHR Aug 19 for a cruise on Aug 24, using the extra days to see London. Lots of flights & seats available since schools have started. Stayed at a Doubletree across the street from Victoria Station, used Rick Steves' guidebook, and walked all over the place. Cunard bus to Southampton, one sea day, then stops at Stavanger, Olden, Flam, & Bergen, one sea day back, and a bus to LHR. As Vagabond notes, Cunard is elegant and a bit expensive, but affordable if you use an interline agency like Perx. The dress rules after 6 might appear stuffy, especially on the 3 "formal nights", but this is a different kind of cruise line. Instead of a disco they offer high tea with a string quartet, and educational lectures instead of bingo. Weather was fabulous the whole trip, but locals said we were unusually lucky. Many good side trips were available via boat, bus, or train, and of course hiking. Be prepared for the prices ashore -- London is like New York, and Norway even higher.
Overall, a great cruise, right up there with Alaska's Inside Passage.
