I didn't like this article. The fundament of any business is to provide to consumers goods or services that they want. Businesses compete because they have to make consumers happy. Whether such competition is good for any particular business is irrelevant. Thiel's premise treats businesses as ends unto themselves; and thus, the success of the business, and the benefits provided to stakeholders and employees are what matters.

I think Thiel is wrong. Competition is not for losers, competition of for the consumers.
