AME Smith in Nashville...retired
Just a quick note for those who see the info on Dr. Charlie Smith in Nashville while searching for an AME. He retired as of 6 Oct. I found out just a moment ago when I called to try to schedule my next Class I.
What a loss.

I called today to schedule and found out the same thing. Any recommendations on a good pilot friendly AME? I've had some issues in the past with a minor color deficiency and am hesitant to pick one at random. Please PM me if you want to keep it off the boards. I'm in the BNA area but am willing to jumpseat to a good doc that will keep me flying. Thanks!

I would gladly second Dr. Friddell. Growing up he was my family physician....then he became my initial AME. When I joined the military there was an issue with my medical that he helped me work through. He and his staff are great people and I would gladly still use him if I were in the area.

Much like gcsass said, Dr Friddell was my doctor from childhood all the way up through today. I couldn't recommend his enough, he is great, and his staff is great!
Take note, also as mentioned above, he is retired from family practice but he comes in on WEDNESDAYs to perform Flight Physicals (Medicals, Class I, II, and III).
Their address and phone number are listed above

I went to Dr Hollinger for a 1st class on 02/03/2015. He seemed like a great guy and was honestly concerned about my health way more than required by the FAA. I Probably will choose another AME next time because he was way too thorough and his office is not that convienant. He is located on the eighth floor of downtown Nashville Baptist St. Thomas hospital. Charley Smith will be missed by a lot of us.
