Default TWU INTL suing its own members

New here, and cannot find an appropriate forum so here we are. I have some knowledge of this and was wondering what the fly guys might think. Inside info has the TWU suing its former board members (dispatchers and sim techs (AA)) 541 and 542. They apparently gave some of the dues back to the entire memberships. Not sure of why, but does that sound like a good reason for the former board members to be litigated by their own union? A little tidbit, they are using local dues, in part, against the members express wishes, to sue the former board. I just don't think they have the right. Can they just ask for money back from members without the bullying? Sounds like they do not get much local autonomy, which I think is what the local should have! Are not locals free to run the locals the way they see fit. Again just wondering your thoughts. The money they gave back was not exactly small, however, well within the locals mean to continue without detriment.

Here is the skinny on this.

Group of AA in house folks wanting to decertify TWU as bargaining group of Dispatchers. The leaders of this new group were "allegedly" the current Exec members of 542.

One way this group thought of to lessen TWU's response was to give out $500 gift cards to every member of the local without instruction on how to use it. This dwindled the treasury down from $600k to just over $300k. The international knew nothing of this as there were no receipts or approvals from them. When asked what members were told the response was "these were for iPads to communicate better to the members" knowing this was not the case at all.

When questioned by TWU International, the 542 Exec Board all resigned. Computers and cell phones were wiped clean. There were bank accounts of bank accounts to cover mismanagement of local funds.
