Read the final award, it indicates what positions are unfilled and available for newhires.

Unless the most junior pilot in the company was awarded the spot (or otherwise could have held it, then it wasn't offered (per meaning of the contract) to everyone. So no, it's not currently able to be bid by a newhire. New Hires still go to New York only.

I'm sure the answer is buried in this thread somewhere, but what percentage of new hires is to cover attrition and what is the current planned pilot force?

Someone on here will correct me but the last i heard beginning 2015 is that Delta will give us as many planes as we can staff. Weve got some 200s coming to add tonfleet because no one else will fly them, and someday we might get some aircraft bigger than a 50 which will be here for you after 3 years.

Thats the closest weve seen to a fleet and staffing plan.

Thanks for thinking five minutes ahead, maybe five months. What's the fleet plan, whats the crew plan? What is the five year goal for total airframes and pilots? Get bored ask tom and russ, if they hire more pilots youll get more 200s. Within reason, you can fly as many 200s as you can staff.

In fairness to you, I suppose youve never been here when we had a fleet plan and a pilot target written down on paper. If i said "core flying" you'd probably shrug.

Speculating that far in the future is a gamble. The economy could enter another recession tomorrow and all of the sudden we have furloughs again by the end of the year. Or Compass and XJT could crap out tomorrow and Daddy D sends those birds our way.

My point is until the pen hits the paper we are at the mercy of Ed's whims. Frankly I just want to get these negotiations over with so we can vote on the new package and move on from there. That is the current stumbling block.

How do we get more of those icloths on our planes? Those things are terrific. And hey, XJ mechanic, are we ever going to see LED nav lights for all aircraft?

Not sure about frames and pilots, but in 5 years, it is said (source not available) that regional flying for delta will only be 9E, RP and OO.
