Default Memphis road show 9-10

Good turnout yesterday. By my gustimate probably 500 to 700 people.
You can now put me in the definite "yes" column.

Do tell. Some of your union brothers/sisters were unable to attend.
Pretty generic statement overall.
Very convincing.

Tell us all why you're a definite YES.
Please express the details of the "sell job" that made you a definite YES vote.

After reading every word of the "blue print" (changes in the TA), every video and webcast, I'm finding it hard to believe a line pilot at FDX can honestly say -- hell yes, this is amazing! This TA exceeded my expectations. I can't wait to dive into this pool of work rules and compensation.

I'm considering firing my lawn guy. He costs too much IMO, but based on productivity I kinda like the guy's work. But yesterday I told him, I need to adjust our arrangement. I can only pay you a small 3% per year COLA. He wasn't happy until I said I'll give you a Gatorade before you start and a beer when you're done. He said, sounds good, nobody else does that for me.

He signed on for 6 years. After that, I'll probably add a small bag of chips and keep him around another 4 years.

Wait a minute ... that sounds familiar. Did I mention I only want him mowing at night with a headlamp on.
The white noise helps me sleep.

Disclaimer: The above example is for entertainment purposes only. I actually mow my lawn myself. If I got the pay raises and QOL improvements I deserve, then I would pay a professional to do it. Since I'm a pilot, I'd try to find a way to expense it or at least get a write off. It's all about me in 2015-2021.

This is a business decision, you may not like his decision, but there is no reason to question his judgement. I am a probable yes vote because I think the NC did the best they could given the restrictions we gave them. They got us what we asked for. On the whole most of the deviation, scheduling, and pay sections are plusses. I don't like some of the minuses but the plusses out weigh them.

A no vote wont break my heart as now maybe we will be willing to negotiate in good faith on retirement. I can wait two years as well as the next guy, I would just prefer not to. Be a shame to cheat all of those new hires in HKG out of $100 and hour min pay.

Hey, at least I went yesterday. What's your excuse for not going. I'll apologize in advance if you had to work or had very pressing family issues.

By nature, you are a concessionary person. Just find a way to make both parties happy. Maybe you should have been a divorce attorney.
.
What part of a labor contract isn't business? Sounds like the problem with you is that you consider contracts an emotional attachment. A Hallmark card you use to determine how much your boss loves you. And if there aren't enough hearts on it, you're going to pout until he adds a few more XOs after his name. Maybe you should have remained a toddler.

First off ...
GFY Rock.
Some have moved off the pacifier.
Maybe you haven't.
I don't need BZs and "atta-boys".
I expect better than this TA without question.
In the end, it's an agreement not a business decision.
You have confused the two but that is just stating the obvious.
If you like it, vote for it.

I'm calling a spade a spade.
If you're offended, go crawl back under your namesake.

I was on an extended international trip or I would have been there.
No need to apologize BD.
Still waiting for the profound reasoning to vote YES.

Dude. I suggest you get some sleep before your next post. It's not too late for hostage taking.

Dude - this has to do with a vote, not a job action.
I'm fine.
Still waiting.

i like the contract because I will get a lot more money voting yes than no. The professionals that I hire to negotiate for me tell me it is the best they can do given the climate. Will there more or less independent contractors if this gets voted down? How will the environment improve?

They're professional pilots.
Not professional negotiators.
Can we at least agree on that?

Not once in 20+ years have I seen the pilot group actually win something of significance. The financial success of the company and the rising tide of the industry is essentially the perfect storm. It doesn't get any better than this. The company saw that clearly and JUMPED at the NMB.

Why? The RLA is always in the company's favor. FDX wins again.

Maybe you guys are right.
Let's just take the short term money and move on.
It's the path of least resistance.
