Hey everyone just curious if anyone knows how flexible SkyWest is with their minimums. I know that are trying hard to fill a lot of spots in their classes right now and need people, but I have heard that they are strict on the 1000 hr minimum to interview. Anyone know if they are a little lenient if you are close to those times? I know it may be an insurance requirement for them or just thats the cutoff they have set. Right now I have a little over 800 total and about 350 multi, 200 of which is 121 RJ time. I will be applying when I hit 1000 for sure, but just curious if I would be wasting my time sending in an app now.

Thanks!

They won't budge on the 1000/100. I understand that they will interview you at 850 if you do the ATP bridge program, but you can't get a class date until you have 1000.

If you're gonna do it, the sooner the better...start picking up open time on your days off to get your time up.

Ace, I'm building the required multi-time and have my eye on SKW, too.

I'm curious, where did you get 200 hrs of 121 RJ time? If my math is right, you had about 600 total time, when hired. Maybe I should be applying where you are?......

They sometimes get so caught up processing the walk-ins and group interviews, they can't see the forrest for the trees. Go to a group interview or get someone to walk you resume in and you will be called the next day.

bugsmasher,

I'm at Pinnacle now- they have been hiring a lot too but I dont want to live in their domciles and want to avoid commuting. Good job for right now and I'm lucky to be here, but have had my eye on SkyWest for a while. Sorry to say I'm a product of a bridge program too. Yeah, I know I will get some flack for that on these forums. But I have heard of Pinnacle interviewing with less than 1000 with no bridge program credentials. Send your app in and give it a shot.

I am an ATP 3800+ and 900+ multi and I just had an interview. I went to a SkyWest open house and they scheduled my interview then and there. It DOES help if you can meet the staff before hand and they can get to know you a little. It will speed things up for sure! They are getting swamped with apps and job fair people everyday! SkyWest will get to you, but it may take a while unless you go to a fair.
P.S. They are very strict on the 1000/100. Even if you are within 10 hrs
of the 100 multi they will tell you to contact them once you get 100 hrs or
more and nothing sooner.

It's not the 1000/100 that's keeping me from applying, it's that 100 instrument time that I have been looking for without having to rent a plane to put a hood on.

depending where you live i would take my instrument students on ifr flights all the time. it gives them a chance to see what it is really like, not just wearing a hood but seeing what a 1/2 mile vis is, or what 300 over cast is like climbing into. it is a great tool, and both me and my students benifited greatly from it. i never had one instrument student fail a checkride because they had been in the soup a lot. use the 50 hours of crosscountry they need to have to do it. they need the actual/simulated inst time, so what i did was combined the cx with the actual inst time so they were able to knock out 2 birds with one stone.

That would be nice but, whenever my intrument students are on my schedule it is a nice day, of course.
