Capt Michael Johnston returns to SLC

I'm just a Delta guy, but thought you guys might want to know.

Capt Johnston's casket was returned to his family in SLC on AA Flight 450 from PHX this afternoon. After exiting the runway, the AA 320 was escorted by SLC Flight Ops vehicles through a SLC Airport Fire/Rescue water cannon salute before pulling into gate A1. Capt Johnston's family observed as approximately 25 AA/DAL pilots, Flight Attendants, Gate Agents, Ramp Personnel and the SLC TSA Color Guard formed a line along both sides of the belt loader to pay their respects as his casket was carried by AA/DL pilots to the hearse. The Captain of Flight 450 was a good friend of Captain Johnston's (I don't know his name) and he joined the Palm Bearers after completing his duties. The passengers in the terminal at gate A1 lined the windows and those aboard Flight 450 remained seated until the service was complete.

I didn't know Capt Johnston..but I hope his family was comforted as he was welcomed back home in SLC. The ceremony reminded me that, in the end, we're all just aviators doing what we love to do, and that it can all end before we know it.

Thank you. It means a lot that fellow pilots step up to help when members of a different group are in pain. I owe you a drink.

Amazing thing to see. For those wanting to see the video, search FOX 10 news in Phoenix. They covered it and it was incredible.
