I hope I made the title somewhat clear. Pardon the spelling as im doing it via phone oconus. Has anyone else had issues with B of A travelling overseas recently? I've been plagued by my cards getting turned off. No, I have money in the damn accounts for the trollers. I call and tell them I travel and bam! Card is turned off. I did a lax overnight and bought a movie ticket and before I could buy popcorn the card was off. ***.

Any banks that aren't so crappy? I'm an Eastie so a west coast bank wouldn't help. I'm damn near ready to carry three oz gold pieces just to be tsa compliant rather than deal with B of A again. over it.

I recommend Navy Federal Credit Union. For many reasons and this is just another one of them. Good luck!

I never use a bank card domestically or overseas... Carry very little cash, primarily for tipping. I use a credit card with a self imposed low limit which is paid down on a weekly basis. You can set up an automatic payment plan when your balance reaches a predetermined amount. Some credit card firms do not charge an an "out of the country" fee when overseas.

I don't use cards a whole lot overseas, layovers anyway, will on vacation. I did call when we went to Germany on vacation. They do have online notifications one can check off.

They should get the drill after a while. The only incident I ever had was with a Cabelas Visa card. I fueled up a private plane near Detroit with fuel, then flew home and bought some tires off Tire Rack. I guess it was to much for their system, off the card went until I called.

I don't use the card you mention. Go elsewhere if they can't get it right.

On the B of A website there is a place where you can notify them that you will be traveling. You can enter the RONs and dates you will be there and all will be good. Calling them does nothing. I did a cruise in September and using the website method my card worked in Mexico and Honduras with no problems.

I've had good luck with USAA. The only time I've called them and told them I'm traveling was when I went to Asia. I only fly Domestic, Caribbean, and Mexico. But never call and never had an issue.

I have been told that if you can you should use your credit card over bank card. You have many more protections with credit if your info is stolen. If your checking account is drained via your bank card info being stolen it can be much more difficult getting your money back.

This! I never use a debit card for this reason (also keeps debit card in reserve in case CC gets turned off).

Many banks have an online feature where you can notify them of your travel plans so they don't cut you off first and ask questions later. As mentioned NFCU and USAA are pretty good.

Wells Fargo has been great for me. I stay domestic and Canada for work but do occasionally travel overseas. I never notify them of my schedule. My card was skimmed in Canada and they caught it instantly. I'll second the credit card not debit card. Way less liability with a credit card.
