anyone out there ever hear of a fistula problem. its an inner ear problem that is easily fixed with surgery. will a pilot be able to get his medical back from the feds?

Yes.

Feds will want to be sure that (a) no dizziness, spinning sensations/vertigo - essentially that one knows which way is up, (b) solidly sealed so that changes in cabin pressure will not re-open the fistula.

It's a bunch of paperwork - but if a chap can keep his balance normally and the problem is corrected, Feds have no interest in denying a certificate. FAA has actually been pretty progressive in getting folks back in the cockpit - moreso than the military.

Good Luck !
