Quote: I was told by 2 different interview prep companies that it showed you had a desire to work at Delta and that you had been working towards the job, not just expecting an interview. What makes you say so definitively that it doesn’t matter?
Because it’s BS. That’s why.

Quote: weird, the exact same thing goes for what you said about time for application in matters. take your own advice, if you arent working in pilot selection don't say things matter that aren't published when they don't matter. So please provide us proof that having your app in longer matters, otherwise STHU.

Does having your application in longer help you? sure because they can see it earlier, but delaying to put your application in by no means hurts your chances of being hired.
You actually don't know that either though.

While it is very much possible to have your app in for a short time and get hired, you can't say for certainty (well you did, but not accurately) that it doesn't hurt your chances. The only things we can say with certainty would be that it doesn't help to delay submitting your app and it doesn't hurt to submit it earlier. It possible that time isn't a factor, but we don't know that.

You actually admitted as much in your last paragraph. If doing one things helps your chances, not doing it hurts them. It's just a matter of degree.

i disagree. obviously everyone agrees the longer an app is in the better it probably is due to simple exposure. To say not doing that hurts though I completely disagree with it. Just because doing something helps it doesn't mean not doing it hurts.

Sure it does. If it increases your chances of getting hired by .1% your chances of getting hired are .1% higher if you submit early. This means that delaying putting it in makes your chances .1% lower than your chances if you had put it in early and hurts your chances relatively speaking.

The base line is the opposite of the choice you are comparing. Anything that makes your chances higher means your chances are lower in comparison if you do not do it.

No it doesn't work that way. It doesn't decrease the base line by not doing it; it could potentially only increase the baseline.

Publish your app as soon as you've completed it, give an honest availability date...it's not that hard.

Tunes is right. Don't spread false information unless you really have the data. The only people who have access to that are in the hiring department. All we can do is speculate.

This is the most important part. Publishing your app the day you show up to RJ school or UPT doesn't show interviewers anything. If you are two years out, for sure, you publish your app and update it every month with new flight times until you get a call. It may help get a random score, but they have already said they only score an app once a year and that they will only pull an app at random with a reasonable availability date.

I know more than just a few outliers that had their app in for less than 6 months before they were called. Of course, there are also a lot of people who have had it in for 5 years. If they get a call, I don't say, gee, it must be because it's been in for 5 years. While Delta absolutely cares in your drive to get to that level, it is more adequately demonstrated by actions other than publishing an app. Things like LCA, safety, union work, taking a quick upgrade when available, upgrading airlines when practical.

For a fact, things that have resulted in getting looked over at the interview? Falsifying your availability date and changing it when you get the interview.

Put checklist monkey on your ignore list he's a complete tool. Conceited and arrogant, thinks he knows what he's talking about but he's just makes stuff up as he goes.

This is not how you handle someone you perceive to be like this. Unless he/she is hurling insults, exposing their errors is the only real way to deal with them.
