Wi-Fi is ground based system. Very costly to do it off of satellite antennas. Not sure, but, even flights that have Direct TV, are pretty limited in terms coverage. Most every passenger carrier I've travelled on don't have International wi-Fi or video. Feet wet and you go to aircraft entertainment only.
