Do the airlines care if you were a CFI?

Would someone who met all the requirements for an airline (regional) but didn't hold any type of CFI rating be at a disadvantage? I'm asking because I have the option of being a CFI or building a lot of multi time for around the same price. Would having several hundred hours of single engine CFI hours be worth more to the airlines than the same amount of multi hours hauling cargo? How about when I get ready to move from a regional to a major? Would the majors have a problem with the fact that I didn't CFI or would it be OK if I had the proper amount of hours? I would love to hear from those of you who went each route. Sorry for those of you who saw my other post... I just felt like I could word the thread better.

If you have an opportunity to get a JOB flying twins, go for it. However if it is some sort of pay-for-a-job or pay-for-SIC-time arrangement, go get your CFI. You'll learn more doing that anyway.

The actual flight time you are talking about would be good, but if you PAY for the privilege of doing a job that SHOULD be performed by a qualified, paid pilot many folks in this industry will think you are scum (including me). It might bite you in the @ss on future job hunts if the interviewer doesn't like buy-a-job people (or it might not...do you feel lucky?).

What do you care about? Do you care if you are CFI or do you care about only flying jets? Be prepared to discuss either one at an interview. If you dont want to instruct please dont, there are plenty out there that didnt instruct that should have, and plenty out there that did that shouldnt have. Make the choice based on what you want and not what the airlines want, trust me there are consequences either way./
