Doesn't know anything about any HVA bonus until speaking with others in class. Asks recruiting why he wasn't eligible, is told he doesn't qualify because he didn't complete the required "special" interview process. (This is someone from my new hire class.)

Sorry, but it seems I don't have a "definitive" answer either.
Thanks. Sounds like it's anyone's guess what will happen from what you said in that case.

I believe you must have zero 121 failures to receive the additional bonus.

I should have stipulated, having zero unsatisfactory 121 training events is definitely part of the deal. I was speaking more about the interview requirement.

What would be considered "unsatisfactory"? Under AQP failing a maneuver validation isn't supposed to count as failing something (even though technically you did) just an "incomplete" if you messed up so much stuff that there wasn't enough sim time to redo everything you effed up on. You can fail the your initial or recurrent LOE or an upgrade but that's about it. Or do they pinch you if they see you got one extra sim session during initial new hire training also?

He quit because he didn’t want to fly a jet (the type of jet that was left to pick wasn’t his favorite)? How many previous 121 guys?

Should have gone to republic if he wanted to be guaranteed the 175.
