The planes were coming no matter what, just so happens the majority of pilots at this airline want to fly these planes for less money than we could have gotten. Now Inc makes more money, and we're dead in the water for 5 years.
Oh we're having trouble recruiting, the SAPA bums, and their awful leader, Inc'd a deal to match years of service pay to other 121 pilots.
Still having trouble, how about we give the company the ability to raise first year pay.... "SAPA and the Company have agreed to review the First Officer Year 1 pay scales on a yearly basis. Upon mutual agreement between SAPA and the Company, the First Officer Year 1 pay scales may be adjusted with or without modifying the remainder of the Pilot Policy Manual".
SAPA just voted in Soft Landings 2.0, so they'll definitely be voting yes to raising first year pay.
The company knows our bases are one of the main attractions for coming here, so lets open up two more. And they'll be opening a few more here shortly.
Reserve proffering will be garbage. The rep reppin that has said it will only help 20% of the assignments while on reserve. There's no way CS will give away that much control in how they assign trips. I do want that part to work, and it is a small win, but it's not an increase in pay.
Anyone else notice a theme here? The company does everything in their power not to give us, the ones on property, a real raise. One that's quite noticeable in our paychecks.

Detroit Fairly Easy?
I may be one of the strange ones. Looking over the bases, Detroit is the only one that I really want to be at. As a new hire is that a fairly achievable base? Where do you find what aircraft are at the various bases?

But, suppose the huge pilot surplus evaporates for some reason, maybe the government will start running pilots through training by the thousands each year. Or suppose Google gives up on its self driving car and realizes that it would be easier to design a mechanical first officer (or maybe captain)? Pilot salaries would then plummet and Skywest pilots will be looking as geniuses. In fact, I believe the airlines are lobbying for the government to allow people to log Xbox time.
Yes, Air Wisconsin gives 57,000, Envoy 65k+, Endevour 66k+ more than Skywest to a new hire over the next three years but if the market drops after 3 years then Skywest will still have 2 years of their contract still locked in!
