why do you say drive to LAX. Couldnt I fly in? There are at least 10 non- stop flights everyday.

Yeah I couldn't imagine how terrible that drive would be.

You and others (seniors) from SKW, CPZ, DL, AA, AK, UA, Allegiant, exc.. have the same idea. It seems easy, but it can be a challenging commute. Tons of people do it. I always seem to have someone in the jump and it's a knife fight for it on the first few flights out of SAN in the AM. Flow can be pretty bad too. The one advantage is that we do some of the flights, but it seems to change monthly. I'm not sure if the RJ 200 does LA-SAN anymore but the jumpseater can get left behind if LA needs an ALT.

You could, but it would suck. At least with driving you know you're getting home at the end of the trip.

Odds are you'd find that you would need to leave yourself time to drive when planning a commute by air, and doing it frequently. Might as well just skip the hassle of wasting hours at the airport getting bumped, and drive in the first place.

If you have some control over your bidding, you can avoid traffic. The worst of it is north of LAX anyway.

I commuted the last two years to LAX and never had a problem with flying- if not the first flight, always the second flight. Hardly was ever in the jumpseat. YMMV.

Do you ever find yourself having to fly to LA a day before your line and flying back a day after due to schedules? Or is it pretty easy to do same day?

Nope.

If the show time was too early or too late, I would just drive. And the nice thing with that is there wouldn’t be any traffic at 3am or 10pm.

The 200 does it once per day, most days of the week but not every day.
