RNP Approaches
 

I'm sure everyone flying the 175 has seen the FMS go goofy and fail to sequence the next waypoint. Typically it's no big deal. I had it happen when the FAA was in the cockpit and it didn't cause any trouble. I'm just curious if anyone has had this happen during a visual approach following the RNP approach. It seems like it could be a problem if the airplane is trying to snake its way through terrain and make a turn on a relatively short turn to final in actual IMC conditions.

I’d assume all the airplanes will be updated to 27.2 before RNP in IMC is approved. It’s suppose to fix all these bugs....we shall see.

Honeywell EPIC FMS is a CFIT waiting to happen and the FAA has their stamp of approval on it. The sequencing and DME freezing is a mid-air waiting to happen.

Can you elaborate on the sequence and dme freezing error? We run load 27.2, and I haven't seen this yet.

Oh you will. I’m actually surprised the feds aren’t having a kitten about this software “upgrade”.

Wait, who has 27.2 up and running ? I thought skywest was the 27.1 beta tester in a sense. 27.2 isn't even out yet. I know CPZ is on 25.5 still.

Typo. We run 27.1

It’s been a while (at least 6 months) since I’ve seen any 27.1 hiccups like we used to before. And the amount of complaints on our pilots FB and GroupMe page have also shown that. 27.2 will come and bring more challenges for sure. RNPs shouldn’t be any different, we’re all supposed to know what to do if it fails
