Legislative Committee Update
This week, Congress finalized a five-year FAA Authorization Bill, ensuring the continued safety of our skies. This bipartisan effort reflects the hard work our ALPA volunteers, both in the Legislative Committee and on the line.
The bill came through on three of our four recent Calls to Action: secondary barriers, flight-time requirements, and removal of single-pilot research provisions. Unfortunately, Flags of Convenience was removed at the last minute, but ALPA will continue to emphasize the importance of protecting American aviation careers.
Our colleagues in the cabin also celebrated a major victory, with the bill requiring 10 hours' rest for all cabin crew, matching what those of us in the flight deck currently receive.
This bill is proof that our day-to-day advocacy works! From participating in Calls to Action, donating to ALPA-PAC , and simply remaining knowledgeable on the current events affecting our career. If you haven't done so, please consider becoming a contributing member of ALPA-PAC. The PAC is a bipartisan, pilot-driven effort. Your dues money cannot go toward any political contribution, so ALPA-PAC is a way for you to invest in the future of your care
