United is moving the 700s to 50 seats so that it can bring Skywest in with more ERJ-175s.

Gojet and their pilots union are now negotiating a new lower pay scale for their 50 seater. Perhaps they will keep the current pay scale for the 50 seaters and move the rest of the flying up more towards industry numbers?

Gojet can't get FOs now, how will they get them when they lower the seat numbers.

Skywest is the place to go.

It is a refurbished 700. Take a 700, send it to Bombardier, change the interior, make some paperwork happen... voila! The plane is now a 550, certified to only carry 50 people. Scope averted.

Well that's somewhat disappointing then, those 700s are getting old and worn out. The 900 atmospheres with 70 seats are brand new.

Just as the E175SC has its own new type certificate - and is a “new” variant ...

For god sake, yes bombardier will have new 550, and united is refurbishing 20 plus go jet crj700 to crj550. How hard is that to understand.

Pretty sure they're moving the G7 700s to 50 seats to make room for the 25 XJ 175s, not OO.

Edit: NVM. Forgot OO gets the next set of 25 175s. Carry on!

OO gets the next 25 dual-class aircraft. The 550 wasn't an official thing when the ManaAir deal had been announced. So, there's that.

And those next 25 dual class aircraft also were prefaced with the word "New". I would venture to guess that United made that deal with OO for future large RJ scope expansion "if" it ever came. ExpressJet will probably pick up any 175s that United owns that get transferred from other carriers when contracts expire. IMO
