One thing to keep in mind is SIM location...

Had a buddy that told me a “horror story” of a guy driving his car to SLC and then almost getting assigned sims in ATL.

All that effort just to use your car for 2 weeks.

With my luck that would be me...

Gas is close to $4/gallon right now in most states. If the trend continues it could be $6/gallon by the time you're done. So probably not worthwhile unless you've got one of those electric vehicles.

This too... I'd say anything more than a day's drive may not be worth it.

No Union

Random but can anyone explain the pros of not having a union? The captain I spoke with presented it as a really good thing but I've heard from a few others how it's a con rather than a pro.

i don’t believe the national average is above 4$. I’m getting gas in the low 3$ all day long in Chicago. And that is considered of the expensive states. I even put gas at 2.98$ about a week ago.

The pro/anti question is more of an internal one. You might meet a loudly pro type and think 💭 well that makes sense. The same is true for a loud anti. It is more the person and their character than it is the issue.

Ask yourself why every other airline has a recognized labor union? Maybe they all got it wrong?

You could always go work at Mesa or Gojet. Or how about ExpressJet, Compass, or Tran States.

Just kidding. Kind of. Although I consider myself a conservative at SkyWest's most conservative domicile, there's been plenty of days when I'd of voted for one here. I did actually vote for ALPA back in the day. The in house proposal was seriously flawed. SAPA is a joke. And just about everything they do is screwed up. This latest reserve change a perfect example. If ALPA got another drive going they'd get plenty of votes.

I guess what you have to do is compare our policy manual to other regional contracts. For the most part we compare pretty good. It basically comes down to arguing over who has the nicest trailer in the trailer park. Get your time and move on.
