Base Selection
I just got an October class date on the CRJ, curious about the QOL differences between ORD and DFW (maybe MSP). In regards to better credit trips, trips to choose from, etc. It seems like upgrades and reserve are pretty comparable. I'll be moving to wherever I get based so commuting isn't an issue. It'd also be nice if there were some day trips available that didn't go super senior.
The interviewer told me DFW does nearly all 700 flying. Does this mean better schedules and mostly longer legs? He made it sound like DFW is pretty stable which I hope is true. |

COS is mostly United CRJ200. They do have some CRJ700 flying as well. I'd take a guess that the 700 flying is only 10% of the flying. The majority of trips are three days that start around 6am on day one and finish around 8-10pm on day three with credit around 16-18 hours. That means you'll probably do five of them a month in order to get around the 88 minimum hours of credit the company wants everyone to have. The do have 1, 2, and 4 day trips as well. Making a wild as guess those comprise 30% of the flying.
On the 200 you'll see a lot of Denver. The 700 goes farther. There is a small amount of Delta 200 flying that goes to SLC hub. I believe one of the big benefits to COS is being able to park your car in the parking lot and walk to your airplane in 5-10 minutes. At other places car to the aircraft can take up to an hour. Even in SLC I have to plan to be in the parking lot nearly a half hour before showtime. LAX can be a headache with the bus service to the United terminals. And Denver airport is in the boonies. |

Go live somewhere In between and keep your options open. Do that and you can sit reserve at either base. Plus if you buy outside of DEN, t will be cheaper and we all know FO’s don’t make enough to be picky. |
So when you try to pick up a trip and it says queued #400 and creeps down from there at a glacial pace what exactly is the process that is taking place? A gibbons monkey in a tux down in SGU is slowly pulling slips of paper from a hat???

Recent reserve times
Can anyone contribute to how long recent reserve times are for new hire FO's at DEN / ORD / DTW? Any information is much appreciated, trying to choose a base that will get me flying the soonest.

What about DEN and COS?. And once you become a line holder in either of those or DTW, where can you fly more or where can you have more earning potential? (DEN/COS/DTW). I would imagine DMA makes all the difference?
