Kinda a side topic, but anyone heard anything about what OO is doing with the FA (and I assume pilot) lawsuit requiring breaks be given during the day/night? A buddy at Alaska told me the Supreme Court has denied all appeals and its now mandatory that FAs be given rostered meal breaks and off the airport if they desire. Last I heard sometime back, OO was even playing with the idea of downsizing California bases or the like to avoid having to be affected by the suit.

Just curious!

Ha good point, but I have read the actual decision. Don't think they can get around this one anymore, the Supreme Court has said case is closed now from what I saw. No appeals. Be interesting to see what they do.

Default Skywest Regional Pay

Does Skywest have any incentives to make their pay competitive with The American Wholly Owned now that they are almost 1/2 of the highest paying regional per hour in year 1? I mean 47 vs 90 an hour is massive! One would imagine that eventually they would run out of pilots given the identical requirements to apply to Skywest as their competitors. Or can they continue to pay as low as they do forever?

There will never be a shortage of new pilots. The only reason to increase pay would be if training costs a lot, I’m not sure how much it costs to run sims and stuff. Otherwise once they get the training footprint streamlined who cares if they are going through 80 pilots a month. However they should just double captain pay and then they would be fine since they have decent bases compared to the LCCs.

The real question is how much can the company afford to pay us. Only so much money coming in…we dont have AA backing us.
