if you have 3 years of credit you should start on year 4 pay. you will probably get DTW out of training and should plan on being there for a month or two (the bottom 80 or so FOs are all in DTW, with that said they are also all probably still in training) I do not think you will get ATL, DFW, or IAH out of training but it is always a moving target. if things keep moving like they are now you should get ATL around the 6 month mark and probably hold a line 2-4 months after that. ATL is fairly stagnant at the moment as we have quite a few pilots that live in the southeast that commute there. This last month a few captains got in there under 2 years but it had been awhile since ATL has gone that jr. DFW is about 2 years 4 months for jr captain but that person got in when we doubled the base in 1 vacancy (40 to 80 crews).
hope this helps

FO in DTW (or ATL if lucky) for 9 months or more, then if I choose to upgrage to CA, DTW for sure on reserve? That doesn't sound so great.
How is this better than taking a Near-DEC position somewhere else with a big signing bonus and being based somewhere as good or better than DTW on reserve?

So the consensus is:

The consensus is APC has turned into a “magic 8 ball”. And im afraid that the new pilots entering the feild are going about life choices based off of internet lure... and not good old networking with real people...

Don’t forget in 2 years we will be into a recession. Things will be sloooooooow for a while. Add 2-3 years to your predicted times

You will get ATL or DFW as an FO out of training or within a couple months. But yes, if you go for the quick upgrade, you will be in DTW for a while unless there is some growth in another base. You could also likely get ORD fairly quick as a captain too which wouldn't be a horrible commute.
Whet would you be based for these prospective DEC positions?
CommutAir - EWR
Envoy - ORD or LGA
GoJet - DEN or ORD
DTW isn't a terrible base.

For the most part, that is how DTW is looked at but then go twenty miles north of Detroit to Bloomfield Hills and things look completely different.
