Describe my next couple years at OO if hired.

What could I expect if I hire on at OO for the next couple years?

I live in LFT and will be commuting. Direct flights from here to IAH, DFW, ATL. <4 hr drive to IAH, 6 hrs to DFW if desperate.

4700 TT, 1200 SIC jet Part 121, ATP, also 3 years Part 121 for Industry Experience Credit, so 3rd yr FO pay.

Describe my most likely future. Bases, aircraft, reserve, upgrade.

Does OO have long call reserve (12 hr)?

Thanks in advance.

You can write your own future... quick upgrade, or cush FO sked... asking here is probably the worst idea. I would rather take
My chances with a magic 8 ball... Yes there is long call.. All that being said. DFW and ATL are jr bases.. main difference is the flying.. 700’s at DFW, 200’s in ATL. DL vs AA. Pick your poison..

So getting IAH, DFW or ATL isn't a problem as a new FO?

How long to upgrade to CA with my times?

If you have three years of 121 time you should know that current upgrade times have zero to do with future upgrade times. Latest awards were arounds 9 months though.

You'd also know that those awards would be for the junior domicile and they'll probably spend a long, long time on reserve while senior pilots bid in above them.

I think the majority of upgrades wait until they can hold a line.

if you have 3 years of credit you should start on year 4 pay. you will probably get DTW out of training and should plan on being there for a month or two (the bottom 80 or so FOs are all in DTW, with that said they are also all probably still in training) I do not think you will get ATL, DFW, or IAH out of training but it is always a moving target. if things keep moving like they are now you should get ATL around the 6 month mark and probably hold a line 2-4 months after that. ATL is fairly stagnant at the moment as we have quite a few pilots that live in the southeast that commute there. This last month a few captains got in there under 2 years but it had been awhile since ATL has gone that jr. DFW is about 2 years 4 months for jr captain but that person got in when we doubled the base in 1 vacancy (40 to 80 crews).

hope this helps

long call is only 20% of our reserve and you can be converted 5 times a month to short call, you are also call first. you should NOT plan to sit at home on long call the way things are right now

Why not? Long call with a short commute is golden.

because you will get called almost every day.

8 guys were just awarded ATL captain under 2 years, but I would plan on being in DTW once you upgrade until you hit at least that seniority.

Well that completely depends on staffing and open time. Long calls get used for trips that are in open time days before the trip starts, so they get their assignments days in advance. Pretty rare to get the call right at 12 hours.
