Upgrade Times by Base and Equipment
1 Attachment(s)
There have been a lot separate threads created where people are asking the times to hold a base or upgrade. I figured we could create a single thread and update it to keep this info in one place.
The following data is based on the most junior pilot in the base according to the public pilot recruitment page, sorted by the most junior captain. Here is the URL for that page, halfway down you will see a domicile map where you can click a tab titled "Seniority". Pilot Jobs » SkyWest Airlines The accuracy is plus or minus 2 months given lag between new classes, the recruitment page being updated, and lazy math. It may also have errors. It does not show the time on property for recent upgrade awards, just what we call the "plug" in the base. If someone wants to go through the exercise of figuring that out please be my guest - assuming we are allowed to post this type of info. Upgrade Junior to Senior (months on property) as of March 2019 Code:
Equipment/Base FO Capt Code:
Equipment/Base FO Capt Hope this is helpful and can reduce the number of threads. http://i63.tinypic.com/jzy050.png |
Looking at the Current DVR (vacancy report) like i said 6 months ago. We will hit “street” Captains again.. (disclaimer OO doesn’t hire street captains, but someone in NH class will probably get a upgrade offer, like what happened last year this time)

I'm going to guess that ERJ CA in SLC goes down to 8yrs or so as well on this next round of awards.

Ha. Ya if it closed to day it would. Will see how may senior people come out of the woods...

CRJ captain in SLC down to about 3 1/2 years now. A bunch of pilots getting SLC in all seats. Probably about 60-70 on this new bid.

Crazy times.
You knew that when they raised the pay...;) |
I'm interviewing soon and am new to the airline industry, is there a way to see which of the SoCal domiciles has 1) the most flying available, 2) most flexible schedules, and 3) what the typical routes are? Or is this all seniority based?
I'm trying to figure out which of the three, LAX, SAN, PSP has the best quality of life. I'll be moving to the domicile and don't care which aircraft I fly. |

New to all the airline bidding, seniority thing as well.
If I want ORD, that seems to be a good place to go to get seniority as a FO and hold bids there? Am I reading that correct? |

So looks like currently could get DFW a month or two out of training.
Then upgrade potentially at 12-14months, hold dtw/ord for around a year then back to DFW. So hypothetical in 24 months, 3m training, 1-2m ord, 6-7m DFW, then 12m ord again. Reading the OP info, sound about right? |
currently my first choice is Envoy for DFW but with new PSA rates I am having second thoughts and Skywest is the other option for DFW. I am curious what kind of routes/trips does skywest fly out of DFW and is it a mix of 200,700,900 or only the 700? Is there a good chance DFW will stay around?

Domicile, you bid for during class and will get the assignment before you’re done. |
Thanks!
Follow on Q.... are domicile trades with classmates allowed after assignment or take the assignment and bid on different domicile as seniority permits? |

Aircraft- you work with your recruiter then get assigned a class date.

Being in OO’s pilot pathway program has no effect on your seniority within your class for bidding/initial assignments, correct?

I believe it does for bases and sim schedule but I may be mistaken.

Seniority in class goes by:
Current pilots retraining, for example switching aircraft types Cadets All other new hires by last 4 of SSN (0000 goes first, 9999 last) Seniorityin class determines company seniority and applies to both sim and domicile awards. Pilots who are retraining keep their original company seniority. |

I will be commuting from KBOI no matter what (CRJ)...so I want to bid where I can hold a line right away....is that possible? Or do new hires get put on reserve right out of training no matter what?
I’ll go wherever I need to go so I don’t have to commute to sit reserve. Hoping for Salt Lake or Denver though! |

Is seniority for BOI ERJ Captains expected to go down? 4-5 years is a lot of seniority when it seems people are starting to go to the majors at 3 years. I want to build as much PIC turbine as possible as quickly as possible, but also want BOI for QOL.
