And didn’t OO management say that if the previous contract was not accepted they would not be in a competitive position to get anymore flying? Yet, there it is. Another lie.
The only argument that one could make (and it would be pure conjecture) is that the company needed to nail its costs down before taking on new flying contracts.

What this whole ordeal has to do with ALPA at SkyWest is beyond me. Being awarded this contract is likely due to our west coast presence (IMO that's where these birds are going) and our ability to get the airplanes out of Brazil the fastest. I'm not sure how many, if any, slots Envoy still has, but I know OO has 100 orders with 100 options that have been hung on to.

It's a legit point. Normally furloughs are far less than 50% of the pilot group (although we might be about to press-to-test on that paradigm too).

So normally there's no majority appetite to take pay cuts all the way up and down the list to keep the bottom 20% employed.

Harsh reality, it's not socialism.

Wow...50% or more of the pilot group would be almost beyond comprehension. Pushing up towards the 2700 pilots range, not to mention the FAs, dispatchers and other staff that would be affected as well.

Goes without saying, hoping beyond all hope we don’t press to test on this one.

Pestilence like we’re experiencing is beyond comprehension as well. I think it’s quite clear that we’re not just headed for, but we’re in uncharted waters.

On another note, the regionals need their own representation not associated with mainline (No ALPA, etc). Otherwise Regionals will always get the “short” end of the stick and won’t have a true seat at the table. ALPA has its benefits for sure. However, regionals will always be second class citizens in the ALPA world.

That was always my impression as well. I definitely like ALPA... at the legacy. Different experience at the regionals.

Not to mention the next 1-2 years is not a good time to be negotiating a contract...
