Should I go to envoy or skywest

I'm over 1000 hours and should reach 1500 by Aug. I'm in between envoy or skywest. I want to live in either SFO or San so skywest is the best one for that so I dont have to commute. On the other hand I always wanted to go to Envoy because of the flow and the flight benefits. Should I over look envoy and stay with skywest so I dont have to commute? I'm hearing rumors of envoy moving to lax and that would make things easier but it's all rumors.

If you don’t have to commute and you know you can get that base, go to that airline. In this case, a big question is how long until you can hold SFO/SAN?

ENY has a lot of negative things going for it right now, the flow is a good backup plan though. LAX seems to be a perpetual rumor FWIW.

If you going to move to base either way, right now OO has the better QOL and you still have a very good shot at good career progression. Might be worth asking where do you want to be in 5-10 years?

Don’t trust base rumors until it happens. Senior Skywest folks will tell you that BOI base was rumored for 15+ years before it actually happened. AA benefits are nice, but I like the fact that Skywest gets you both DL and UA. I get Delta One on 95% of my international trips.

And I agree. What do you expect from your career?

Go Skywest and don't look back.

Don't pick based upon rumors. For every rumor that comes true there are tons that don't.

If you're on the west coast and want SFO, it's achievable within the first year on the CRJ. Might be on the ERJ too, but expect to be on RSV longer.

Envoy is a dumpster fire in regards to their pay and work rules. You are truly a slave to their flow. Despite that being said, I would chose Envoy over Skywest if it would mean the difference between commuting and not commuting. That is how big of a QOL hit you take by commuting.

Then I see this post and you are asking if you should live in base and work at Skywest or commute and work at Envoy. Are you kidding me? The choice is an easy one.

I'd go with skywest, I live in the bay area, will be starting my class in June 3rd. And i have alot of choices in the west coast. My main goal is also SFO. But I know I might need to commute to either LAX, PSP, or FAT. But those are easy 1 hour commutes instead of a 2.5 to DFW or ORD and 4.5 to LGA.
I was also strongly committed to going to Envoy, but the way the recruiter presented the company in the presentation during my interview date literally stating they were 13% below industry avg in pay and that the company has no interest in bringing up pay cause they're not having issues recruiting, that literally made me shift my sight on other regionals. The flow is a great thing to keep as a back up, but I think that's their only selling point.

Spent a decent amount of time based out of SFO and commuting from my West Coast home. Cant speak for others but I would not call SFO commuting (to OR from) "easy" I missed many a day off when I should have been home due to having to fly in early the day before first day of duty or miss my commutes home on my last day when flow programs were in effect at the airport.

And with the way OO appears to be handling reliability issues for pilots on probation at the moment, be extra careful.

Your experiences may vary, I just had a very bad...or unlucky time...with SFO commuting - assuming you intend to do that once awarded SFO.

Was it easier out of OAK, or SJC? SMF would be my last resort..

Coming from an Envoy guy.... go to SkyWest and the work your hardest to get to a major or legacy.
