Skywest or bust
Hey Guys
I am new here, have about a 1000 hours on ERJ-135 and would appreciate some information on what to expect and on the following please:
1. Is it a good idea to go to the CRJ coming from an ERJ-135
2. What is the best domicle that generates the most flight hours?
3. when is the first interview date for hiring after 1st. of July and when is the nearest class after 1st of July?
4. How long is it from interview to indoc to ground school to IOE, to start of flying please.
Thanks

1. Do it, go CRJ and don’t look back. You will actually fly the plane and have a chance at not sitting reserve forever.
2. DTW/ORD are the most junior CRJ bases right now and that’s where you’ll get the most time.
3. You’ll have to talk to a recruiter about that one, they’re good about getting you in ASAP though.
Last I heard classes were out to SEPT/OCT I think, but you can always ask to be put on a list Incase someone drops at the last second.... ask a recruiter about this though.
4. Indoc to IOE is typically 7-9weeks. That includes indoc, ground, FTD, Maneuvers, LOFT, LOE.
Locations will be SLC/ATL/DEN for everything past ground.
4b. IOE depends, they try to get you done ASAP, but if you’re like me you may do 700/900 sign-offs before the 200 in which case IOE will last a little longer, but you’ll be good on all three variants when you finish.

Thanks yall
Gee thanks Yall, that was very informative and encouraging much appreciated.
Got more for ya, sorry newbee here
1. Coming from and ERJ to CRJ, should I expect a drastic change and heavy studying on the machine or minor changes
2. What is the best thing to do as I will be alone first, live near DTW Airport like Romulus in a room rent like or somewhere you recommend that really worked out well.
3. How much would i be paid after tax deducted per month, say I flew every flight I could take even on weekends, holiday or something (at least that's what i am thinking on doing since am gonna be alone and not much to do, might as well fly, right)
4. Is training tough, for a guzzler like me, I don't memorize quick but if am taught something well I do great afterwards.
5. Would it be a good idea to fly for 1-2 years make 1k hours, head to Jet blue, Frontier or Allegiant for a career rather than the main stream.
6. So i have about 1k hours flying private and corporate outside the US, What would Skywest consider my hours as... As Par 135, or 121 or something else?

Expect to study a lot
You’ll have to make that decision. Moving to a junior base, however, will probably be ideal for QOL and maximize your pay.
Someone more junior to me will have to chime in, but it’ll vary with how hard you work. After training, expect $2500-4000 a month.
Not that tough but you will have to study.
Again everyone has a different situation and goal.
It’ll just be total time but won’t be 135 nor 121. Even that time in the US wouldn’t be 135 or 121.

I'm in the 175 and wouldn't go-to the CRJ. It's a beat down on the CRJ side. Stuck in an old crappy jet cooking on the ramp due to the junk APU running five legs a day that pays the same as two legs on the ERJ. Not to mention the overnights are way better in the ERJ.
There are a lot of new CRJ FO's regretting there decision.

Said no one ever...
Pay no attention to whoever that is.
The CRJ is an older plane but it’s fun to fly!
Emphasis on FLY.
If you go CRJ, you’ll probably upgrade to captain before he does lol. Very few people go to a regional airline to sit in the right seat for the rest of their career.

Pretty sure it would actually be the opposite. 175s guys loving the plane but willing they would've chosen the CRJ for career progression and earning potential. I heard reserve is much shorter, plenty of open time and quick upgrade.
