Which base for a MEM commute?
I have a class date for early next year in the E175. I’m living in Memphis and can’t move to base. Which base do y’all recommend? ORD seems to have a lot of options on company metal. DEN is relatively close and IAH is out there. Looking for advice. Should I opt for be CRJ? I hear upgrade times are coming down for the 175 as well. TIA.

6 flights a day on your own company metal (for UA and AA) that you would have jumpseat priority on.
2 flights a day on WN from MDW if you need them.
And there's usually 2 flights a day on FedEx except Sundays/Mondays.
DEN is a bit farther, you won't have much luck with getting on FedEx planes, and there's only 2 SkyWest flights a day instead of 6. Also only one WN flight a day. Occasionally there is a Frontier flight but that's only a few times per week.

Four day trips are common, four day with a two day is easy. If you're senior enough (top 10%) you can bid a four day with a 31hr layover then your good for another six days. So four day three day or two four days back-back are possible. The problem is the majority garbage low credit pairings and the fact that you will get the target credit 85-89 hours that will require extra pairings sprinkled in to ruin your plan.

Would 2 6-day blocks be enough to meet your monthly minimum? Is it possible to get them back to back so you only have to commute once a month? Then just crashpad between blocks?

In March average 4 day trip pays 5:30 per day. Do the math and that puts you at about 16-17 days of work
