Just one example of scientific research.

Cut and paste anything, regardless if relevant to try and make a point. By anecdotal evidence, are you saying my life experiences cannot be held as reliable? Let me ask, what is your ethnic background? |

By anecdotal evidence, are you saying my life experiences cannot be held as reliable? Let me ask, what is your ethnic background? By anecdotal evidence, I mean your life experiences are not statistically relevant or applicable to the population as a whole since you’re a sample size of one. There’s a difference between “reliable” and “statistically applicable to millions of other people”. I don’t disbelieve you at all, It’s just that one experience isn’t statistically relevant. This isn’t a personal attack on you, you just can’t apply one person’s experience and say that no one else has had a different experience. I’m a white dude, but just because I’m a white dude doesn’t mean I can’t witness racism and sexism occur to others. |

A paper on how people are treated differently solely based on having ethnic sounding names is not relevant to a discussion on subconscious prejudice?

So, with these interviews and the selection process, what were the companies used for the sample, and what was the ethnic backgrounds of each person used to obtain the data of who was selected and rejected? I mean, if you are going to use this as an example lets have all the information.
Feel free to read the full paper if you want. Or post some research that shows prejudice/bias isn’t real. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. I’m not firmly attached to my opinions of things i’m not a multi year expert in, so if you have some relevant research that is more compelling than mine I’ll happily change my opinion. |

Bias is not a new thing, and is not exclusive to one group. Everyone holds a level of bias when it comes to their ethnic, social, or religious background. So to say it isn't real would not be correct. However, it is how one wants to perceive "bias" to push an agenda is where the problem comes into play. |
The gentleman is quoted as saying “For [my brother’s] safety and the safety of those around him, it is important that he sit with a family member on flights,”
Now I have no clue what actually happened, I was not there, I am not defending nor am I criticising any decisions made. However, the "safety of those around him" line is what caught my attention. I am wondering if this somehow was miscommunicated to the FA and she felt she had a safety issue by whatever was said to her by the family at the time. If I had someone board a flight and I was an FA and was told something had to be done by moving a passenger or there would be safety consequences for the other pax, I would sure be thinking hard about it. Like the rest of you, I will be very interested to hear what really went on if we ever find out. |

Keep it classy SkyBest! I’ve never understood how other pilots can throw another crew under the bus in situations like this, but I do know it shows a real lack of integrity and weak character. |

You’re either a newb to the industry or a complete moron if you take articles like this at face value.
