Junior CRJ FO trips out of SFO
I’m scheduled for a CRJ class in Feb, with aspirations to be based in SFO ASAP. I was wondering what kind of destinations and trips I can expect out of SFO. Will I stay primarily on the west coast, or do 3 and 4 day trips cover other parts of the country? Ever get trips to Canada and Mexico or do those tend to go senior?

I'm SFO based. I'm 8 months in and i'm 60% with a full line. You could probably have SFO 2-3 months after the checkride and a line at 6 months. But there were 15 folks added behind me when I got in so the reserve time wasn't as long as some people.
You'll mostly do all west coast, with a handful going to Boise or denver through Fresno, Santa Barbra, Redmond. International is mostly Calgary, Once summer rolls back around you can rent a car and go checkout Banff. (this flight sucks for the pax) The 700 has a much better mix of trips that will go further than DEN. For example, my Dec schedule has all 700 trips with rounds to BOI, SLC,LAX, DEN, COS, MMH and ABQ. Previoiusly I had a 700 trip that went to Roanoke and passed through ORD. |
You will get to go to some pretty cool places like ACV, MFR, SBP, RDD, OTH, and STS. It was some of the most fun flying I have ever done.

I refer to the flying as the "California shuttle". About 2/3rds of my flying out of SFO is 200 flying up and down California. Very little 700 flying. I bid about 50%.

One question, when you say you bid 50%, what fraction does this refer to? I assume it means you bid to fly 15 days per month? |

It means he's 50% up the FO seniority list. If there are 60 people bidding for the month and you're #30 in line, you'd be 50%. Like golf, a lower number is better.

"All 700 trips in Dec" at 60%? Hard to believe, because according to our RSR SFO has "very little 700 flying"... |
