ERJ FO Movement

From looking at the seniority list by base on skywest.com I see that ERJ FO is relatively junior at all bases compared to the captain side. Is there still enough movement and flying on the FO side to get off reserve and hold a line without being too stagnant at the bottom?

Most specifically interested in the DEN and SLC bases asap out of training on either the CRJ or ERJ, whichever one has the best movement for a better schedule and QOL.

Good question. Would love to know this for CRJ/ERJ out of LAX. Is the Crj really the better west coast choice for someone who wants to fly a bunch? Not sure since it looks like there will be more erj flying on the west soon

Looking to be in class in sept/October 2020

Hard to say. I'm one of the CRJ folk, things really started to kickup a month after i started.

(ERJ)Looking at the seniority list in SLC and the lineholders, the most junior line holder probably started class last march/april.

SFO junior lineholder probably started in may/june

SEA lineholder started class about a year ago.

DEN started a year ago.

Now for CRJ

SFO started about around July
LAX lineholder started a year ago.
DEN started ground in March.

Honestly this is my best guess based on seniority number.

Thanks for all the info!

Could you tell me the date of the most junior lineholder in ORD on the CRJ side please?

So from what I can tell if I want SLC, best bet is to go with the ERJ, less senior by a few months compared to the CRJ, correct?

Eh. With the extra ERJ Delta flying it would be quicker out of MSP, but SLC could be possible. Generally it’s always been more senior on the west coast

Is the seniority page on the skywest website accurate? It shows SLC ERJ as a new hire base along with BOI & MSP. Also shows SLC CRJ FO 2 months senior to SLC ERJ FO.

I was told by my student that heard from a skywest pilot recruiter that it updates every 15 minutes.

Honestly, it seems that everywhere is 'staffed'. Now they're throwing everyone where they want to go just to have enough reserves across all the domiciles. Ex. FOs are sometimes getting historically more senior bases without even finishing training, while for sometimes others, it might take you a month or two. It's all timing and seems to happen at least everyother month.

So right now, it's pure luck that you get the base you want right off the bat. Regardless expect getting a full line 4-6 months away

^This. Timing is everything because yes junior FOs made SLC and are quite happy BUT, you’re trying to forecast way far out... no one has that information even the recruiters haha.

They’ll lie to you. And the interviewers will lie, stay plugged into these forums and you have a chance with where the movement currently is.

I suspect that the junior ERJ FOs will be in ORD-SFO-BOI and maybe PDX.. but that one will only last a few months after March arrivals of Compass 175s.

The Compass 175s we’re getting now are changing the entire 175 game...

The current focus for the next three months is MSP arrivals.
