Premium Pay

How does premium pay for for your guys? Are you paid at a higher rate for working more hours? Where does it top out at? How much open time is usually available?

I can’t remember what it is when you break guarantee when you’re on reserve.

if you’re a line holder and you’re AWARDED over 87 credit hours you get a 30% override on the hours over 87.

for picking up on days off 3 incentive levels.
115%
130%
150%.
you won't see 150% unless you are within 5 days of the trip and they are out of reserves in that base. as of right now they will delay a flight into the next day or just cancel instead of offering 200%.

Open time is pretty plentiful if your willing to goto different bases. The larger bases like ORD and DTW always have stuff in them. Your always best to pick up a week out or they get put on reserves. 150% trips are good for people who live in base and they pick up the night before or the morning of the trip. You really have to watch it. You can fly as you want if you can fit it in rest and duty time. I personally bid so I have MAX days off together to allow myself to pick up a extra 3 day trip a month

wow, premium starts at only 115%? Not to throw stones in a glass house here, but that’s pretty terrible. In a day and age where we’ve seen 300% thrown around, not starting at 150% minimum is pretty lame. What’s the percentage breakdown of the 3 levels you guys are seeing? I assume 150 is closer to the trip, while 115 is for stuff at least a week out and builds from there?

there is a formula and I dont know it off the top of my head but it's something like 15 days out with below min reserves (we almost always are) is 115%, 10 days out goes to 130%, 5 days out they offer all open time to reserves to proffer and anything left after that goes to 150%. yeah I'm aware this is a low area but the company would rather burn through all their reserves 5 days out rather than pay 150% so I dont see much changing. our mainline partners getting involved would be the only way we see 200% (or voting in a union)

Plus they know at least someone will pick it up at 150%. If no one picks it up and there aren't any reserves to cover it long enough, may be they will start offering 200%. I think it should at least start out at 150%,then 175% and 200%. I might suspect this might be in the next TA.

Since we're on the topic of premium pay, question for the group. I got super lucky and dropped a trip at the end of December (shock!), and picked up one in open time. It was red, 130%, picked up on the 24th for a trip starting on Jan 2nd. At least, I'm 99.9% sure it was 130%. Now that everything has been processed in Crew Pay, that 3 day trip is just showing up as REG instead of OT. I was dumb and didn't screenshot the open time before I picked it up. I swear it was incentive, because it was in the 130% window, and kind of a low credit 3 day (but also super easy, no long sits, and the 130% made it almost equal to 17 hours), and I picked it up over some other crew posted trips that also offered money, because the pay to work ratio and report times were nice for me.

Anyway. I'm assuming I have to get on the phone with crew payroll, but what do you guys think...do I have a shot? Looking back, I can't find a screenshot so I guess I didn't get one for whatever reason. But this is also the first time I haven't had an incentive get applied automatically. Is it just a matter of them seeing "oh, it should have been 130%, we'll fix it"? Or am I just out of luck?

I’m ok having it start at 115% if it means our staffing is decent enough to ensure our contracts stick around unlike the garbage staffing at other airlines that have to dish out 300% to barely keep their planes moving. 300% is not sustainable forever.

You had me until you got the the part about working overtime for 115%
