No clue about TUS, but it's also tiny. I think a dozen lines and 1 reserve line most months. PHX has grown a little. In December I was awarded a transfer to PHX which started in January. That put me at pretty much exactly 9 months from showing up to day 1 of training. I barely got a line that month. In February, this month, I got knocked down a little bit and have been on reserve. Now the March award is out and I got a line. Everyone below me is 1-3 months behind me in seniority, and have been on reserve the whole time. I got lucky with the timing/placement, in that I've been able to ride the bottom of the lineholder wave. I'd say the other comments of 1 year to a line is accurate, especially for conservative estimates. So I'd say 9 months to hold PHX, and 2-3 months of reserve is a safe bet.

As for upgrades, yes you either wait till you can hold PHX CA, or you go to another base sooner. One PHX FO was offered PHX CA upgrade in the last round of domicile awards. He's 4.5 years seniority, as have the last few captains to be awarded PHX. It seems like it's been around the 5 year mark for quite a while, especially as senior CRJ captains from other bases slowly trickle in here (like SLC guys, for example). Upgrades to other CRJ bases are in the 2ish year range, but vary wildly on both sides. Some guys come in with prior time and upgrade quickly, whereas others wait a little while longer to upgrade in a base and avoid reserve.

Looks like ppl are getting SFO in training and possibly LAX, if not shortly after. Can one expect 4-6 months before being able to hold a line at either?

If it’s more important to upgrade as soon as possible, then it’s off to the Midwest with you.

sort of depends on if you want to be on the leading or the trailing edge of the hiring wave...
